The HFO mediates FREE of charge to facilitate amicable, out-of-court dispute resolution between individuals or businesses (with an annual turnover of up to €3,000,000), and providers of financial products and services (banks, investment companies and credit servicing firms) who participate in the procedure.
The HFO procedure involves providers of financial products and services established in Greece, including Banks (both regular and associate members of the Hellenic Bank Association), Investment companies (members of the Hellenic Fund and Asset Management Association (HE.F.A.M.A.) and the Association of Members of the Athens Stock Exchange( SMEXA), and a Credit Servicing Firm.
We examine disputes relating to financial products and services, such as deposits, loans, credit cards and investment products, issues arising from loan servicing, etc.
In accordance with the regulatory framework governing our operations, there are certain types of disputes for which we do not have jurisdiction.
The HFO procedure involves providers of financial products and services established in Greece, including Banks (both regular and associate members of the Hellenic Bank Association), Investment companies (members of the Hellenic Fund and Asset Management Association (HE.F.A.M.A.) and the Association of Members of the Athens Stock Exchange( SMEXA), and a Credit Servicing Firm.
If we have jurisdiction, we hear the views of the parties, collect additional information, and handle the dispute fairly and impartially.
We then mediate to reach an amicable settlement of the dispute. If no agreement is reached, the HFO may issue a reasoned non-binding recommendation for its resolution.
