He also identifies systemic problems that lead to poor service delivery or violations of citizens&#8217; rights. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Etymologically, the term ombudsman originates from the Norwegian word umbo\u00f0sma\u00f0r, meaning &#8220;representative.&#8221; The Swedish Constitution of 1809 was the first to establish the Parliamentary Ombudsman (<em>Riksdagens ombudsm\u00e4n<\/em>). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Historically, the concept of mediation can be found in China (amhaeng-eosa), Rome (tribuni plebis), Arabia (\u1e25akam \/ \u1e63ul\u1e25, Diw\u0101n al-Ma\u1e93\u0101lim), Greece (\u03c3\u03b1\u03c3\u03bc\u03cc\u03c2, \u03c0\u03c1\u03b5\u03c3\u03b2\u03b5\u03af\u03b1, \u03b4\u03b9\u03b1\u03bb\u03bb\u03b1\u03b3\u03ae), India (panchayat), Japan (kugy\u014d, ch\u014dtei), etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Ombudsman is an <strong>Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)<\/strong> process, such as mediation, arbitration, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Ombudsman is usually appointed by the government or parliament or established by professional bodies in accordance with legally defined principles (independence, expertise, transparency, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Ombudsman may have a broad mandate covering the entire public or private sector or may be specialised.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ombudsmen are also found in health, education, insurance, the environment, communications, children, energy, pensions, labor, sports, transportation, the European Union, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In <strong>Greece<\/strong>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/who-we-are\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"275\">Hellenic Financial Ombudsman<\/a><strong> <\/strong> handles disputes with banks, investment companies etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cOmbudsman\u201d: a word borrowed from the Scandinavians<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":2885,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-2894","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/2894","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2894"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/2894\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3058,"href":"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/2894\/revisions\/3058"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/2885"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2894"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
