data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Hellenic Financial Ombudsman (HFO) was established on March 15, 1999, World Consumer Day, initially as the \u201cBanking <a href=\"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/ombudsman\/\">Ombudsman<\/a>\u201d.\n\nIn June 2005, following the absorption of the Capital Market Ombudsman, it was established as a non-profit civil company with an expanded jurisdiction, as the \u201cBanking and Investment Services Ombudsman.\u201d\n\nIn October 2018, the HFO launched its second area of activity, the provision of Support Services for Mediation under Law 4640\/2019, by establishing <a href=\"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/hellenic-financial-mediation-centre\/\">HFMC<\/a>. It was then renamed the \u201cHellenic Financial Ombudsman.\u201d\n\nThe following participate in the HFO\u2019s (<a href=\"https:\/\/hobis.gr\/en\/ombudsman\/\"><strong>Ombudsman<\/strong><\/a>) procedure: banks \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hba.gr\/en\/Association\/Members?type=RegularMembersEN\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">regular <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hba.gr\/en\/Association\/Members?type=ConnectedMembersen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">associated <\/a>members of the Hellenic Bank Association (HBA), members of the Hellenic Fund and Asset Management Association (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethe.org.gr\/en\/members\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HE.F.A.M.A.<\/a>), members of the Association of Members of the Athens Stock Exchange (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smexa.gr\/%ce%bc%ce%ad%ce%bb%ce%b7-%cf%83%ce%bc%ce%b5%cf%87%ce%b1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SMEXA<\/a>) and a <a href=\"https:\/\/cepal.gr\/?lang=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Credit Servicing Firm<\/a><em>.<\/em>\n\nThe HFO participates in Working Groups of the responsible Ministries for the transposition of European legislation (e.g. Alternative Dispute Resolution, consumer credit, etc.), as well as for amending the existing legislative framework (e.g. Mediation).\n\nThe HFO is a founding member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.ec.europa.eu\/consumer-finance-and-payments\/retail-financial-services\/financial-dispute-resolution-network-fin-net\/about-fin-net_en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FIN-NET<\/a> (2001) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkfso.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">INFO Network<\/a> (2007) financial mediator networks at European and international level, respectively.\n<div class=\"ns4u-flex-row\"><a
